Blessings and welcome to the Birth Realm!
I extend myself with open hands and an open heart to help you navigate through this amazing time. I offer an array of holistic services, that range from conception through the early weeks of parenthood, to nurture you through this transformation. I work with all familes and their unique desires for a positive birth and early parenting experience. As extended familes are spreading over the globe, the need for us women to turn to each other and ask for help is growing and studies are showing the positive effects this change has to offer.
My passion for children began as a child. Having a huge family gave me the opportunity to be around infants and children my whole life. I have early memories of sitting on the arm of the La-Z-Boy hanging out (or hovering) over my aunt while she was breastfeeding. I could have been 2 years old when I changed my first diaper, and I loved it all. Attending the birth of my nephew some twenty years later inspired me to learn more, first becoming a birth doula, then adding postpartum, and onto becoming an assisstant to a homebirth midwife.
My training began at Natural Resources in San Francisco. Other trainings and certifications include:
Advanced Doula Training w/ Kristi Ridd Young
Birth as a Hero's Journey w/ Pam England
Breastfeeding the Baby's Perspective w/ Kittie Franz
Supporting a woman with an Epidural w/Penny Simpkin
Nutrition for Pregnancy w/ Nkem Ndefo CNM
Neonatal Resuscitation w/ Karen Strange
Supporting Orthodox Jewish Familes in Birth w/ Dr. Elliott Berlin
A Discussion on Vaccines w/ Dr. Robert Sears
Hypnobabies Doula
Certfied infant/child CPR
Medicinal Aromatherapy w/Wisdom on the Earth
Yoga Teacher Training w/ Erich Schiffman
Prenatal Yoga Training w/Shiva Rae
Reiki I & II
California School of Herbal Studies 2009 (& current student)
I have been blessed with the opportunity to study with some of the world's leading birth professionals including, Penny Simpkin, Dr. Sears, Pam England, Kittie Franz, Karen Strange and more!
As your birth doula, I am available as a continuous support person throughout your pregnancy and birth. Usually, we will meet before your due date to discuss how I can be of service to your family and support team, and to develop a birth plan that will give you confidence in voicing your needs.
During your birth, the physical support I offer may include: massage, labor postions, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, use of the birth ball, and techniques for deep relaxation.
Advocacy includes facilitating your birth plan and being a witness through your birth process. As your advocate I will help nurture you into a restful place to admire your baby and recover from birth.

" We were fortunate enough to find Jackie for post partum doula services. She was friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job helping our family. There were a number of particular suggestions she offered that made a world of difference in our experience of the first several weeks. She was kind, understanding, and helpful and we felt very comfortable having her around the house assisting in various capacities. She prepared some delicious healthy meals, did laundry, and helped with our newborn. Most importantly, she helped me as a new mother with tips on breastfeeding, sleeping arrangements, and more. I would happily recommend her to anyone for post partum doula support. Thank you Jackie!"

Postpartum doula services can be arranged to suit the needs of the individual family. I offer daytime services or overnights. My role as your doula after birth is to ease the adjustment into parentood, helping to make it a peaceful seamless transition. Side by side we work together to learn baby care, including; soothing techniques, swaddling , bathing, nursery setup, and breastfeeding.
Most importantly, I am here to mother the mother. As your doula, I offer self care assistance including meal preparation, herbal teas, foot rubs, light household chores, and run errands, to help you rest and restore after birth. Postpartum doulas provide the opportunity for mom and dad to bond with their new baby without feeling overwhelmed with doing everything themselves.
A doula's role today, is to mother the mother... And mothers need sleep! (fathers too!) Infants need to eat every two to three hours around the clock. Nightime can be the most challenging time for parents. They are exhausted and still need to take care of an infant who needs love, feeding, burping, and diaper changes at all hours of the night. This is where an overnight doula can really come in handy. I am here to help you, whether you plan to breastfeed every time your baby wakes up , pump and bottle feed, and/or use supplemental feeding.

" We were referred to Jackie when our son was three weeks old. At that time, we had been sleeping very little and were quite frazzled and were just hoping to have a night nurse to watch the baby so we could get some sleep. With Jackie, we received so much more. She is a highly qualified, professional, knowledgeable and experienced doula, with great understanding of newborns and their needs and development. In addition, what is probably most important, Jackie is loving and kind – she simply adores our son and he adores her..." Ann Rosen Napa, CA
Medicinal Use of the Placenta (Placentophagia)
The practice of eating the placenta has been observed throughout history in many parts of the world. For thousands of years, the Chinese have revered this powerful substance in their Materia Medica as regenerative to the essence and the breath. In Western cultures, eating the placenta is often viewed as barbaric, but thanks to new information about the surprising benefits, there has been a recent push among young mothers to eat the placenta after giving birth.
Studies have shown that eating the placenta has a number of benefits, some of these benefits may include: restoring hormones levels, augmenting lactation, shortening bleeding time, preventing mood jags, curb postpartum depression, replenish lost nutrients, and slow postpartum hemorrhage. The most beneficial times to take in your placenta medicine is, shortly after childbirth or during times of tiredness or energy deficiency.
Please contact Jackie directly for more information about placenta medicine.
